with TECO's Solar Energy Program
Mark has almost 35 years professional experience, primarily in the power sector. His experience is diverse having managed utility planning, business development, project management and asset management.
He began his career in power during the 90's with Tampa Electric. His team provided the early planning and development for the Bayside Power Station that converted an older 1200 megawatt coal plant to more than 1600 megawatts of natural gas.
Mark left Tampa Electric in 2001 to pursue opportunities with utilities and independent power producers in deregulated power markets.
In 2007, Mark met T. Boone Pickens and formed Mesa Power Group that primarily developed wind generation as part of Mr. Pickens Independent Energy plan. He managed Mesa Power for 7 years before forming an energy consulting practice.
In 2016 Mr. Ward rejoined the Tampa Electric Team to oversee the development and execution of the Company's solar strategy.
Today, Tampa Electric is developing and constructing 600 MW of solar power for its customers. The first solar projects are on schedule to begin service this fall. Mark is excited to be back in the Tampa Bay Area and part of Tampa Electric as it executes its strategy for providing clean, cost effective and reliable solar energy.
